Ohio Waterjet Cutting is pleased to provide consulting services on-site at a customer’s worksite. Because of the vast variety of industries we have worked with, and with attention and respect to all Non-Disclosure Agreements, we can borrow from the knowledge gained to offer solutions, and accurately troubleshoot problems that occur during the manufacturing process. Ohio Waterjet Cutting will advise you of any and all alternatives available to solve your problems as quickly as possible.

If your company needs to adopt a waterjet cutting standard, our engineers have experience teaching and conveying the concepts for best practices and can help your design team reduce communication confusion on requested parts.

CAD Experts

Howard Van Dyke is our lead Project Engineer. He ensures that your drawing is properly processed, regardless of its format. Howard and his staff are fluent in many different design software packages from AutoCAD to CATIA. Remaining current with design software allows us to import your drawings from almost any data configuration and manipulate them to carefully craft your part. Additionally, your engineering team can consult with us on how to standardize your files for consistent and faster waterjet times.

Reverse Engineering

If you need us to cut a new part for you, from an existing part you have, we can do so utilizing our FARO ARM and a precision-optical locator. With the FARO ARM, you eliminate the need for the development of an engineering drawing. While engineering drawings in the .DXF format are best and provide the most seamless manufacturing, Ohio Waterjet can work from other CAD design formats as needed by the customer.

Waterjet Cutting

·         Omax 55100 with Tilt-A-Jet Taper

This was our first water jet machine, acquired in 2004. The OMAX 55100 is the largest of the cantilever-style machines. It has a completely sealed and protected ball-screw drive system, is robust and reliable for shops using larger stock. Our model has a bulk abrasive delivery system. It gets the job done quickly and precisely, maximizing machine time. Additionally, our OMAX 55100 has constant updates, keeping it as current and up-to-date as a brand new machine purchased today!

The Tilt-A-Jet is the industry’s premier precision abrasive cutting head, it allows the OMAX JetMachining Center to achieve virtually zero taper with most materials. The Tilt-A-Jet positions the nozzle at a precise angle calculated by Intelli-MAX software to exactly offset the natural taper from the abrasive jet. Taper does not disappear; it is moved to the scrap part of the material, leaving your part with square, taper-free edges.

On some occasions, your material can be held outside of the work envelope.  This accommodates longer parts, which we have experience working with. Additionally, the part can be moved and precision-optically located to pick up previous cut locations for repeat patterns.

·         Maxiem 1530 with A-Jet Head

For a wide range of machining needs, the MAXIEM 1530 sets a higher standard for precision abrasive waterjet machining. The rigid tank design is scaled to handle common plate sizes with room to spare. The advanced linear-motion system uses digital linear encoders to provide instant micron-level cutting head position feedback to the controller to assure accurate part production. Equipped with a diamond-integrated MAXJET 5i Nozzle, the 1530 can cut virtually any material quickly and efficiently, maximizing profitability.

Through advanced, yet easy-to-use software enhancements such as XData, the A-Jet is capable of cutting complex, three-dimensional shapes quickly and accurately. Simply set the cutting angle to the drawing entity, and the software automatically sets the A-Jet to accurately and quickly cut the shape

Material Handling

Our custom material rack (designed and built in-house) allows quick access to over 24 common materials used daily. Our ball bearing glide system allows an operator to pull 3,000 lbs. with one hand!

One-Off or Quantity

Single piece to high volume

A wide variety of parts can be cut for you, either single piece or high-volume project runs. The majority of our products support the R&D world in one-off or low quantity.  Ohio Waterjet has run over 18,000 unique and different part numbers! We are not a typical plate house, although we do have some projects that run up to 45,000 pieces a year.  Typical projects are cut from flat materials, however, we can produce 3D parts as well. Although the majority of our waterjet cut parts are under 1-inch thickness, those under 2 inches are typically handled with ease. Our equipment can cut virtually all materials and thicknesses, and even up to nine inches in aluminum, and four inches in stainless steel!

Absolute Precision

Cutting Tolerances

Machine builders know us as innovators and experts, getting more from the machine than the typical shop. Ohio Waterjet has developed proprietary, trade secret calibrations and methods in order to ensure tolerances of higher accuracy than those typically guaranteed by the machine builder. Depending on the part, tolerances of less than +/-0.003 inches can be maintained, when necessary. Our philosophy is: “It has a computer on it; It will do what it is told.”

Thickness – 0.005″ – 4″.  Thicker is possible, although it takes more processing time and striations may become more visible. Thick or thin material, our waterjets can provide you the best cut parts the industry can offer. Most materials 1 inch and under are in stock, and thicker materials are available within days.

Reverse Engineering

Our FARO ARM and precision-optical locator eliminate the need for the development of an engineering drawing. While engineering drawings in the .DXF format are best and provide the most seamless manufacturing, Ohio Waterjet can work from other CAD design formats as needed by the customer. In several circumstances, we have used our FARO ARM to keep measurement record of serialized parts cut. This allows increase end-product accuracy.
